1. Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains how Kai Research Inc. ("we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on Kai's website. It describes what we store, why we store it, and the choices available to you.
2. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. Similar technologies include browser local storage and software development kits that store or read identifiers. Some are necessary for sign-in and security; optional analytics storage is used only after you allow it.
3. How We Use Cookies
Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are required for the service you request and do not depend on analytics consent:

Functional cookies
Functional cookies are optional. Kai does not currently enable any optional functional cookies. The existing theme-preference cookie is strictly necessary to provide the theme setting a user explicitly selected.
Performance cookies
Kai does not initialize PostHog or create its analytics identifiers unless a visitor allows performance cookies. If allowed, PostHog uses the first-party ph_kai_product_analytics local-storage entry to maintain an anonymous analytics session. Kai may identify that same session after sign-in so it can understand the journey from public pages into the product. It also stores kai_product_analytics_consent in local storage to apply the SDK choice. Kai does not currently ask PostHog to create a performance cookie.
We use selected pageview and declared product events plus a consented identity to understand feature usage and improve Kai. Feature flags, experiments, automatic interaction capture, session replay, heatmaps, dead-click capture, performance capture, exception capture, surveys, conversations, and product tours are disabled in the web analytics SDK.
Advertising and marketing cookies
The consent record includes a separate advertising/marketing choice for future use, but Kai does not currently use marketing, advertising, retargeting, or social-advertising cookies or pixels. No advertising technology is enabled merely because the stored choice exists. If that changes, we will update this policy before enabling it.
4. Third-Party Cookies
PostHog processes optional analytics for Kai after consent. WorkOS and sign-in providers such as Google and Apple may use cookies or storage on their own domains as part of the sign-in flow. Those providers process data according to their policies and our instructions as applicable.
5. Cookie Management
Kai privacy choices
On public or authenticated Home, Accept All grants functional, performance, and advertising/marketing cookies and Reject All denies all three. Cookie Settings lets you choose those optional categories independently. Strictly necessary cookies remain active in every case.
For visitors, the choice applies to that browser. For signed-in users, Kai also stores the latest account choice and a history of changes with the policy version and source. On a new browser after sign-in, Kai restores the account choice; a browser or account rejection overrides a grant. The browser consent record lasts up to 180 days, and Kai asks again when it expires or when the material consent-policy version changes.
Rejecting performance cookies prevents analytics from starting or stops it, opts the PostHog SDK out, and removes its browser identifier and analytics persistence. On logout, Kai removes the authenticated analytics identity and continues anonymous analytics only if performance consent remains granted. Declining optional cookies does not prevent sign-in or ordinary product use.
Browser controls
You can also clear or block cookies and local storage through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent you from signing in or using Kai reliably.

Mobile app controls
Native Kai apps primarily use account sessions and product analytics SDKs rather than browser cookies. You can limit related tracking through device privacy settings and by signing out or deleting your account.
6. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy with an updated date.
